Backup Power
Run a Tier III data center backup plant with diesel generators, fuel storage, cooling, wear and faults, served over MQTT, OPC UA and Modbus TCP.

A Tier III data center backup power plant. It has three diesel generators, a bulk fuel tank and a day tank, two chillers, two chilled-water pumps, a start-air compressor and a hall ventilation fan.
Asset ages are mixed: Genset A at 14,000 hours, Genset B at 6,000, the chilled-water pumps at 4,000 and the start-air compressor at 3,000. Genset C is new. All three gensets start stopped, so you can watch fuel and cooling before you start one.
Protocol scopes are set per area. Generators are served over Modbus TCP, fuel tanks over MQTT, and the cooling and support systems over OPC UA.
What's running
| Area | Assets |
|---|---|
| Power | Diesel generators |
| Fuel | Bulk tank, day tank |
| Cooling | Chillers, chilled-water pumps |
| Support | Start-air compressor, ventilation fan motor |
Use cases
- Readiness checks for standby generation before a real outage workflow.
- Fuel inventory and cooling load next to generator output.
- High-hour and low-hour standby assets side by side.
